Sr Staff Accountant

Description

We are looking for an experienced Sr Staff Accountant to join a growing team in Westborough, Massachusetts. This position plays a central role in day-to-day accounting operations, supporting both payables and receivables while helping maintain accurate financial records across projects and vendors. The ideal candidate brings strong general ledger knowledge, sound judgment, and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate financial processing.

Responsibilities:

- Review subcontractor billing for accuracy and transfer approved invoice data into the accounting platform for processing.

- Oversee accounts payable activities, including scheduling and issuing vendor payments in an accurate and timely manner.

- Manage accounts receivable transactions, track outstanding balances, and support collection efforts while maintaining current customer records.

- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies by researching unpaid or mismatched items.

- Work closely with project managers and internal departments to confirm proper coding and recording of financial activity.

- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations, analyze variances, and support monthly and annual closing tasks.

- Maintain fixed asset schedules, including additions, depreciation, disposals, and supporting documentation.

- Process sales and use tax filings, assist with bank and credit card reconciliations, and help support job costing and financial reporting.

- Administer vendor documentation such as W-9 records, manage subscription-related billings, and follow up on subcontractor qualification requirements.

- Provide general accounting support and complete additional finance or administrative assignments as needed.

Requirements

+ Bachelors Degree in Accounting

+ 3+ years of accounting experience, some in the construction industry

+ Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, LOOKUPS, etc)

+

Experience with Procore and Sage 300 a plus

+ Multi-entity accounting experience and GL/reconciliations exposure

+

Experience with job costing a plus

+ Clean resume with limited movement

+ Willingness to learn higher level accounting skills and take on more
