Substation Project Manager at Electrical Consultants, Inc.
OverviewElectrical Consultants, Inc. (ECI) is a leading power engineering consultant firm serving electric utilities, energy developers, and industrial clients across the U.S. ECI provides engineering, system planning, technical consultation, project management, surveying, environmental planning, commissioning/testing, and construction services from 4.16 kV through 765 kV system voltages. Remote/hybrid work option considered for applicants with extensive substation design experience.
Responsibilities- Lead the conceptual, preliminary, and final detailed design of new, upgraded, and expanded substations, including material procurement, construction, and commissioning/support through energization.
- Scope, budget, schedule, plan, execute, monitor, and report on substation projects and proposals.
- Oversee project teams comprising design engineers, designers, drafters, and support staff.
- Execute ECI’s quality‑control procedures to ensure best‑in‑class project execution and delivery.
- Coordinate with ECI’s subject‑matter expert discipline groups (Distribution Studies, Transmission Studies, Grounding Studies, Protection, Civil Engineering, SCADA Integration, Environmental Planning, Surveying, ROW, and Project Management/Controls).
- Serve as ECI’s primary interface with clients and other project stakeholders.
- Provide technical mentorship and training to design staff.
- Bachelor of Science or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 10+ years of project engineering experience, or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
- 2+ years of demonstrated project management and leadership experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, strong organization and planning skills, commitment to quality and accuracy.
- Willingness and ability to meet fast‑paced project schedules.
- PE license and PMP certification preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of power‑engineering principles, applicable codes, standards, and design tools; ability to direct multiple technical disciplines.
- Subject to client‑mandated drug and background checks.
- Occasional travel and driving; subject to ECI’s auto insurance carrier requirements.

Salary commensurate with experience and education.
