Job Description
The Assistant Controller supports the Controller in managing the financial operations and integration, consolidation, and reporting across a multi-entity organization. This role helps oversee day-to-day accounting, payroll, and financial analysis to support operational efficiency and strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Ensure timely and accurate consolidation of financial results across several departments.
- Support annual audit activities with external auditors.
- Assist in reviewing contracts for proper revenue recognition treatment.
- Maintain revenue schedules and support deferred revenue, ARR, and subscription-related accounting.
- Manage financial data integrity across ERP systems
- Improve automation, reporting, invoicing, and audit readiness
- Participate in ERP enhancements and system implementations.
- Maintain and strengthen internal control procedures related to financial operations.
- Ensure compliance with corporate policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
- Support development and documentation of accounting policies and procedures.
- Support the Controller in mergers and acquisitions (M&A) initiatives by assisting with financial due diligence, data analysis, transaction support, and post-acquisition integration efforts.
- Manage accounting staff by providing leadership, support, performance management, and coaching to ensure accurate and timely completion of deliverables.
- Collaborate with inter-departmental teams, such as Human Resources, Sales, Customer Success, to ensure accurate financial data and improve processes.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- CPA certification preferred but not required.
- 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience;
Software-as-a-Service industry experience strongly preferred. - Background in a roll-up, multi-location, or high-growth environment (PE-backed experience is a plus).
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and international accounting principles.
- Advanced proficiency with Excel; experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Net Suite, or similar). Net Suite experience strongly preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Candidates must reside in Massachusetts (MA). Occasional travel to our Westborough, MA office may be required based on business needs.
Compensation and BenefitsCompetitive compensation based on experience, with a salary range of $130,000–$150,000 annually plus a 10% bonus opportunity
