Position: Nursing Assistant / CNA - Whittier Rehab Hospital

Whittier Rehabilitation Hospital, 150 Flanders Road, Westborough, MA 01581

Shifts:

Full time, 40 hours, 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., 3:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m. (including every other weekend)
Part time, 24 hours, 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. (including every other weekend)
Part time, 32 hours, 3:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m. (including every other weekend)

$2000 sign‑on bonus (full time) and $1000 sign‑on bonus (part time 24 hours or more)

Generous shift differentials: $1.00 – $4.00

Competitive Pay Rate: $20.25 – $29.15

Be part of a clinical team that sees great results! Whittier Rehabilitation Hospital is a small community hospital that does big things to help people. Our two hospital units specialize in caring for medically complex patients with a similar acuity to a medical surgical or telemetry unit. With our population typically staying for 2‑3 weeks, caregivers see the same patients make progress over time.

We are currently seeking caring, energetic and invested CNA staff. New and experienced CNAs are welcome to apply.

Duties
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living specific to culture, age, and developmental level.
    • Assist with bathing, grooming, dressing, and undressing.
    • Prepare patients for meals, assist/feeds patients as needed.
    • Distribute water and other nourishments to patients.
    • Position and transfer patients.
    • Assist in ambulation.
    • Assist in toileting needs; use of bedpan, urinal, commode, and ostomy care.
    • Perform range‑of‑motion exercises.
    • Routine skin care.
  • Perform tasks/tests delegated by the licensed nurse and record/report data as needed.
    • Takes and records vital signs: temperature, pulse, blood pressure, respiration.
    • Measures and records intake and output.
    • Weight patients with the appropriate scale as directed by the licensed nurse.
    • Apply anti‑embolic stockings.
    • Assist with post‑mortem care.
  • Perform advanced skills delegated by the licensed nurse as deemed competent, and report/record data as needed.
    • Perform finger‑stick blood glucose monitoring.
    • Perform bladder scanning.
    • Collect specimens (urine, stool).
    • Set up suction equipment.
    • Perform oral care and hygiene, including Yankauer suctioning.
  • Prerequisites
  • High School Diploma/GED preferred.
  • Previous hospital experience in geriatric, adolescent, and rehabilitation per recommendation by Director of Nursing.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant certificate required.
  • Knowledge of growth and development across the lifespan.
  • Certificate in BLS or Adult, Child and Infant.
