Position Summary:

This position will report to the Director, Global Risk Management and will be responsible for strategic oversight, leadership and performance of the global property and casualty insurance claims’ function.

Responsibilities:
  • Management responsibility for global property and casualty (general liability, workers’ compensation, automobile liability and excess liability) claims, including complex claims
  • Ensure property and casualty claims are reported timely to insurers and in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements
  • Consult with attorneys, insurance adjusters and insurance carriers on claims strategy
  • Develop recurring reports on claims trends for the executive leadership team
  • Develop and implement corporate claims policies and procedures for US and European operations
  • Manage third-party claims administrator(s), including implementing proper claims handing instructions and period audits
  • In accordance with Company approval authorities, settle claims and set (and monitor) claim reserves
  • Collaborate with human resources department on employee return-to-work strategies
  • Collaborate with safety department on loss control strategies
  • Perform other duties or special projects as assigned

Working Relationships:

Ability to meet the claims management needs of both internal and external customers.

Ability to collaborate and work effectively in a team environment (including partnering with Human Resources, Legal, Health & Safety, Distribution Center, Culinary Center, Retail Field Operations)

Minimum Education:

Bachelor’s degree in risk management & insurance, finance, accounting, criminal justice, or business administration

Preferred Education:

Bachelor’s degree in risk management & insurance, finance, accounting, criminal justice, or business administration

Minimum Experience:

10-15 years of US casualty (general liability, workers compensation, auto liability and excess liability) claims management experience within a company (risk management department, insurance broker, insurance carrier or third-party claims administrator); some international claims management experience (Europe preferred) experience with large retention or self-insured insurance programs; familiarity with workers compensation statutes

Preferred Experience:

Minimum experience plus environmental claims

Licenses/Certifications:

Certified Claims Professional (CCP), Associate in Claims (AIC), CPCU (Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter) or equivalent certification preferred
