The Child and Special Needs Unit Program Director maintains direct oversight of the clinical and administrative operations of Westborough Behavioral Healthcare Hospitals’ Child and Special Needs Unit. The Program Director will be responsible for establishing a strong child behavioral health model that guides the program’s clinical framework and service provision.

Shift details: Full-time 40 hours per week

$10,000 sign-on bonus!!

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a multidisciplinary team of clinical, consultative, and support staff to support the social-emotional, behavioral, and educational development of children in the program.
  • Ensure the collection, review, analysis, and reporting of data related to outcomes for children, families, and programs served.
  • Facilitate team meetings and training for staff, childcare providers, parents/caregivers, and external stakeholders.
  • Utilize techniques including positive behavioral support and treatment models designed to help stabilize children in crisis, reduce high-risk symptoms, and support children and adolescents in building skills to overcome behavioral health challenges.
  • Assist with structured daily programming aimed at engaging each patient in developmentally appropriate therapy, school, daily living experiences, and therapeutic activities to help organize children and adolescents during crises, teach coping skills, and monitor responses to various situations.
  • Work closely with nursing staff to ensure patient care and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Recruit, hire, orient, train, supervise, and manage staff, including clinical consultants and support staff. Familiarize with staffing grids, balance budgeted FTEs, and manage unit costs.
  • Education and/or Licensure

    • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited school.
    • Valid Massachusetts RN license in good standing.

    Experience

    • At least 2 years of managerial/clinical experience in a therapeutic setting serving young children and the special needs population.
    • Proficiency in clinical information management systems.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Ability to produce timely written reports.
    • Experience working in an acute psychiatric setting with supervisory responsibilities.
