The Center for Interdisciplinary Population & Health Research (CIPHR) is recruiting a Principal Investigator to bring their research program to the Maine Health Institute for Research (MHIR) as a Faculty Scientist II (Associate Professor) or Faculty Scientist III (Full Professor). We are interested in a population health researcher whose focus is on social determinants/drivers of health, with preference for an investigator whose work aligns with cancer control or implementation science.
MHIR is part of Maine Health, the largest hospital system in Maine, offering opportunities to conduct research benefiting patient and community populations, particularly among rural populations. Maine Health serves 1.1 million residents in Maine and New Hampshire through primary care and multiple specialty service lines, including two regional campuses of the Maine Health Cancer Care Network.
MHIR provides research infrastructure, including an Office of Grants Administration, Office of Research Compliance, Clinical Trials Office, and four independent research centers ranging from basic science and translational research to population health outcomes research. MHIR has a growing annual grant portfolio projected to exceed $25 million in extramural funding in 2025. Investigators at MHIR are collaborative and dedicated to improving the health of patients and communities.
CIPHR designs, supports, and conducts innovative research and evaluations to improve population health. We focus on improving patient-centered outcomes, partnering with communities, addressing health disparities, educating & mentoring, implementing & evaluating evidence-informed interventions, and disseminating findings. Successful applicants will have an established record in mentoring trainees and early career investigators and have a funded, transferable research program with the ability to secure NIH, PCORI, or other external funding.
The Faculty Scientist II/III will help shape the scientific future and direction for MHIR and CIPHR and should be eligible to apply for large center grants (e.g., NIH Centers of Biomedical Research Excellence or P01) with an entrepreneurial mindset for funding diversification.
