Production Manager
The Production Manager (PM) is the hands-on leader of Casco Bay Creamery’s production team and oversees the full production process. The PM balances meeting production targets with outstanding food safety and employee safety, and is dedicated to the success of each employee and the team as a whole.
The Production Manager directs and manages the overall production operations with responsibilities for Production, Preventative Maintenance, Food Quality/Safety and other production-related activities. This role leads and reinforces safety as a core value and ensures all policies, procedures and activities related to Food Safety & Quality are followed uniformly. The PM interfaces with other managers and company leaders to drive customer satisfaction, revenue and bottom-line growth, and networks with peers to achieve results through teamwork and best practice sharing.
Responsibilities
- Effectively communicate and work well with the CEO and COO.
- Meet production targets through effective planning and strategy.
- Assure that production objectives are communicated and met.
- Lead and motivate production team by on-the-floor example.
- Develop and maintain positive business relationships with employees.
- Create a culture where employees can thrive personally and professionally.
- Responsible for hiring, training, supervising and scheduling all production crew members and ensuring that daily production is fully staffed and meets all goals and objectives.
- Develop and execute effective manufacturing process SOPs to maximize yield while meeting customer quality and delivery expectations.
- Adhere to and train staff on multiple SOPs.
- Be a champion for the food safety management system & employee safety initiatives.
- Ensure all employee safety programs (including OSHA) are followed and ensure a safe work environment.
- Achieve and maintain certifications in HACCP, PCQI, SQF, and others as needed.
- Effectively share communications with the production workforce.
- Ensure operations are executing the Company’s Food Safety Management System, including HACCP, GMP, and SQF.
- Function as the initial resource for operational troubleshooting and optimization.
- Respond with solutions to resolve operational issues or engage additional resources to troubleshoot and resolve issues (1st point of escalation for on-shift issues).
- Manage and lead the operators in running production equipment and processes using KPIs.
- Develop sound understanding of mechanical operations of all production equipment and be able to identify issues and execute solutions and repairs.
- Oversee scheduling and completion of daily and preventative maintenance and identify and plan for production line updates.
- Participate in production organizational and operational planning consistent with the overall company objectives.
- Control product quality from a manufacturing standpoint.
- Stay abreast of developments and trends in manufacturing for application in plant production, and recommend changes in policies and procedures as appropriate.
- Prepare quarterly operating budget.
