The Workplace Health Registered Nurse (RN) provides high-quality nursing care to patients served through employer-sponsored health programs, supporting overall health, safety, and wellbeing. The RN assesses and manages a broad range of occupational and non-occupational health needs, including injury and illness care, Workers' Compensation case management and coordination, disease prevention and management, health promotion, wellness services, and care coordination. Utilizing acute, ambulatory, and occupational health knowledge, the RN performs assessments, develops care plans, provides treatment and follow-up care, coordinates workplace health services, and maintains accurate clinical documentation.
The RN demonstrates strong clinical judgment, communication, and customer service skills while promoting teamwork, collaboration, and excellence in patient care in a dynamic and evolving workplace environment.
Possesses the clinical competencies necessary to perform the essential tasks of a RN.
- Practices in accordance with professional nursing standards, established protocols, and scope of practice.
- Performs assessment, triage, and management of occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses, appropriately referring to further evaluation and treatment, as needed.
- Utilizes clinical judgment to prioritize, organize, and manage work independently, changing priorities when needed.
- Responds to medical emergencies and delivers timely, effective care.
- Provides nurse care management and care coordination for acute and chronic health conditions.
- Facilitates specialty referrals, collaborating with providers and care teams, addressing barriers to care, identifying and closing gaps in care, and supporting improved health outcomes.
- Conducts comprehensive health assessments and develops individualized care plans that address clinical, preventive, and social determinants of health.
- Coordinates care for occupational injuries and illnesses, collaborating with providers, management, employer health and safety departments, and other stakeholders to support Workers' Compensation processes, continuity of care, and return-to-work efforts.
- Promotes patient engagement through health coaching, motivational interviewing, preventive care initiatives, and wellness programming.
- Provides patient education regarding chronic disease management, medications, self-management strategies, preventive health, and available community resources.
- Supports onsite health promotion, wellness, and population health initiatives designed to improve employee health and wellbeing.
- Maintains accurate and timely clinical documentation, tracks interventions and outcomes.
- Supports safe clinic operations through adherence to infection prevention, safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrates professionalism and collaboration while contributing to a positive team environment and patient-centered approach to care.
- Maintains competency through required training and compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
- Utilizes IV therapy and phlebotomy skills as appropriate.
- Provides coverage across Workplace Health and other Inter Med departments as needed.
- Maintains strict confidentiality in alignment with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability) guidelines and Inter Med policies.
