Operations Management, Day Warehouse Manager
Are you a warehouse leader who would rather be on the floor with your team than behind a desk? Native Maine is looking for a hands‑on Day Warehouse Manager to run our daytime operation — receiving, stocking, picking, packing, shipping, and inventory — and to lead a workforce of 10–15 people that is safe, accurate, and proud of the work it does.
This is not a manage-from-the‑office job. You'll spend about 70% of your time on the warehouse floor, working side by side with your crew, jumping in where you're needed, and leading by example. If you thrive in a fast‑paced, food‑safety‑driven environment and love developing people, we'd like to meet you.
- Real ownership. You run the day operation end to end and have a direct say in layouts, workflows, staffing, and process improvements.
- Impact you can see. Every order that leaves on time and accurate reflects your team's work — and reaches the restaurants, retailers, and customers who count on us.
- People leadership. You'll hire, coach, and grow your team, and help shape a workplace culture built on safety and accountability.
- Collaborative leadership group. You'll partner closely with our Night Operations Manager, Inventory Control/QA Manager, and Purchasing team.
- Growth. We invest in training and development — for your team and for you.
- Lead a strong culture of safety and maintain a safe, secure work environment at all times.
- Oversee safety and accident‑prevention programs so every team member goes home safe.
- Deliver annual Safety and Food Safety training for all Day Warehouse personnel.
- Protect the safety and security of goods, materials, and the facility.
- Oversee receiving, stocking, picking, packing, shipping, inventory management, and documentation.
- Make sure orders are prepared accurately and shipped on time, in line with company policy.
- Partner with the Inventory Control/QA Manager and Night Operations Manager to optimize layouts, workflows, and use of warehouse space for a smooth 24‑hour handoff.
- Use our WMS, ERP, and other systems to track and analyze performance, and maintain daily production and accuracy records.
- Lead the Receiving Team on inbound quality checks.
- Work with Purchasing and QA to meet customer expectations and regulatory requirements (FDA, USDA, OSHA).
- Supervise warehouse hourly staff, leading a workforce of 10–15 people; set clear goals, communicate expectations, and coach people to hit them.
- Hire, onboard, and train new team members, and evaluate performance.
- Handle coaching and discipline fairly and consistently, and provide input on compensation, promotion, and termination decisions.
- Create a productive, respectful culture where people can learn new skills and grow.
- Build work schedules, including extra shifts and days as volume requires.
- Manage labor hours and consumable supplies within budget while maximizing productivity.
- Identify, implement, and measure process improvements.
- Report on warehouse activities, results, and issues to leadership, and support the business unit's strategic and operating plan.
What you bring Required
- High school diploma or GED.
- 5+ years of experience in warehouse operations, logistics, or manufacturing, including direct experience coaching and leading employees.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
