The Department of Film and Television Production at Loyola Marymount University’s School of Film and Television invites applications for a full‑time, tenure‑track faculty position in Creative Producing. We seek a visionary creative producer with at least five years of sustained professional credits in recognized productions across film, television, independent, international, or emerging digital media.
Applicants should demonstrate substantial practical experience, artistic accomplishment, and industry impact, grounded in the business and legal aspects of production, and a passion for storytelling and mentoring emerging filmmakers.
Responsibilities- Guide students in understanding the processes of developing creative ideas into finished projects.
- Teach courses at the graduate and undergraduate level (three courses per semester).
- Mentor students in classroom and project‑based settings, fostering artistic growth and professional readiness.
- Contribute to curriculum development reflecting current industry practices and emerging trends.
- Serve as coordinator and advisor for the MFA Creative Producing Concentration or the undergraduate Creative Producing Concentration.
- Continue creative work, scholarship, and provide service to the University.
- MFA or terminal degree in film production or a closely related field.
- At least 1–2 years of university‑level teaching experience.
- Demonstrated ability in script / project development, pitching, budgeting/scheduling, legal and business affairs, creative leadership, and knowledge of distribution markets and emerging media opportunities.
- Entrepreneurial skills including finance, business development, marketing, distribution, crowd‑funding, and audience development.
- Experience with and commitment to working with a diverse population.
- Cover letter (one page, indicating position and qualifications).
- Resume/Curriculum Vitae detailing education, creative accomplishments, work experiences, leadership, and service.
- Statement of Teaching Philosophy (concrete examples, inclusive learning environment).
- Creative work samples and/or links with description of contributions.
- References (finalists will provide three confidential letters of reference and evidence of degree/certificates).
