Overview

Under the direction of the department director and the Chief, performs interpretive, patient care, and technical functions to ensure proper radiologic diagnosis of patients.

Responsibilities
  • 1. HIS/ RIS System
    • Updates all patients' information.
  • 2. Forms (History, Preg & Req)
    • Completes all information needed for interpretation.
  • 3. Equipment
    • Reports all malfunctions to manager or Bio-Med.
  • 4. Relies on extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and effects of disease processes to properly and safely position the patient for maximum diagnostic yield.
    • Uses practical knowledge of anatomy for proper positioning to obtain maximum diagnostic information, as evidenced by image taken.
  • 5. Interviews patients and reviews available clinical data from charts to alert any party to possible contradictions for procedure.
    • Speaks with patient to ascertain pertinent history associated with requested exam.
  • 6. Operates highly complex radiographic equipment within the radiology department, operating suites and at the patient's bedside, selecting technical factors to ensure high-quality images using the A.L.A.R.A. (As low as reasonably achievable) standard.
    • Understands and is able to utilize all x-ray rooms in main department.
  • 7. Performs various clerical duties including, but not limited to:
    • Verification of information (to include reading and verifying physician written order) and exams performed, using CR, DR, and PACs immediately after completing exams.
  • 8. Attends all required safety training programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, and specific job related hazards.
    • All required safety education programs have been attended.
Qualifications

EDUCATION:

Must be a graduate of an approved two‑year program. Graduate from an AMA approved school of Radiology Technology. Certification by the American Registry of Radiology Technology.

EXPERIENCE:

Requires a minimum of one (1) year of experience. Will consider new grads.

LICENSURE:
Must possess RI license and ARRT certification. CPR certification (BLS) required.
