The staff nurse for the oncology patient subpopulation provides safe, effective, and evidence‑based care tailored to the individual needs of the patient and family. The staff nurse utilizes the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation while caring for our patients, maintaining confidentiality and dignity.

- Essential Functions
- Assess the patient’s physical and psychological condition on an ongoing basis throughout the continuum of care. Document the information obtained from the ongoing assessment. Share significant assessment data with the appropriate discipline.

EDUCATION
: BSN preferred or currently matriculating. Must have successfully completed the ONS Chemotherapy/Biotherapy course by the start of employment in the Cancer Center. Must maintain an ONS provider card.
EXPERIENCE
:
Minimum three years of medical‑surgical/oncology experience. Recent and relevant experience in an oncology setting required. Infusion experience required. Outpatient ambulatory experience preferred.
LICENSURE
:
Active RI RN license, OCN, AOCN, or CPON certification required or required within one year of employment. BLS required. ACLS (optional). PALS within one year of hire.
SPECIAL SKILLS
:
Demonstrated proficiency in acute‑care nursing knowledge and skills. Ability to communicate effectively and document information accurately. Ability to handle efficiently and effectively a wide variety of individuals. Basic computer knowledge preferred. Strong ability to communicate and interact professionally in a busy environment.
