Project Engineer (Water/ Wastewater Plant Construction) at Kokosing

Overview

The Project Engineer plans, directs, and coordinates activities of civil industrial projects such as Wastewater Pump Stations, Water Reclamation Facilities, and large-scale utility projects. Ensure that project goals are accomplished within prescribed time frames and funding parameters.

Responsibilities
  • Analyze and understand plans and specifications.
  • Follow administrative procedures as outlined in the Project Administration Manual.
  • Inspect construction site to monitor progress and ensure conformance to engineering plans, specifications, and safety standards.
  • Proficient with CPM scheduling program; produce accurate schedules as needed.
  • Supervise and coordinate submittal process and working drawings requirements.
  • Prepare or direct preparation and modification of reports, specifications, plans, environmental impact studies, and designs as necessary.
  • Provide contract interpretation and clarification.
  • Maintain and update project schedules with the Project Superintendent and assist with weekly two-week look-ahead scheduling.
  • Understand cost and productivity data; maintain, verify, and report cost and income quantities for work performed.
  • Review, approve, and submit progress billings.
  • Analyze, prepare, and monitor job costs and production budget; collaborate with the Superintendent to control costs.
  • Prepare and submit accurate and timely monthly cost, income, and cash flow projections.
  • Execute and approve subcontractor requisitions and vendor invoices.
  • Coordinate, price, and assist Project Manager in settlement of change orders and claims.
  • Respond to issues quickly; be proactive in problem solving; manage multiple tasks.
  • Maintain organized project correspondence files and filing systems.
  • Maintain subcontractor insurance certificate compliance.
  • Ensure project compliance with underground utility notifications and locations (e.g., Miss Utility).
  • Promote and participate in two-week and long-range planning with the job team.
  • Demonstrate respect for coworkers; work effectively with subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Consistently apply and enforce the Safety Policy at all times.
Education and Experience
  • Civil Engineering or Construction Management degree (B.S.) from a four-year college or university.
  • 3–5 years of experience in a related field.
Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Computer literate: proficiency with spreadsheet and word processing programs; proficient with CPM scheduling programs such as Primavera P6; project management software;
    Microsoft Office.
  • Understanding of and experience using cost and productivity data.
  • Clear and professional communication, both verbal and written, with project teams and owners.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business reports, correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to present information effectively to groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
  • Strong mathematical aptitude and ability to apply concepts such as fractions and percentages.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret complex instructions and manage multiple variables.
  • Ability to solve practical problems in situations with limited standardization.
  • Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
