Schedule - Regular Full Time - Day Shift

Position Summary: The Supervisor, Total Joint Physical Therapist reports to the Assistant Director, and/or his designee, and has the responsibility for the supervision, instruction, and evaluation of professional and supportive staff, volunteers, and students in their area of the Total Joint physical therapy department/facility.

Responsibilities/Accountabilities
  • Evaluations
    • Responsible for the evaluation of all patients referred for physical therapy.
    • Responsible for completion and submission of all reports pertaining to the evaluation.
    • Effectively communicates with referral sources, other departments, and external agencies regarding evaluative findings and patient’s needs.
  • Treatment Quality
    • Ensures that Physical Therapy Practices are consistent with the American Physical Therapy Association Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice and Standards of Practice policy in this manual.
    • Demonstrates treatment skills that are rooted in evidence-based practice guidelines while balancing patient and provider expectations and needs.
    • Confers with the person(s) most closely associated with the active management of the patient to keep them informed of any additional patient needs, treatment modification, and/or progress.
    • Treats patients of all ages without bias or prejudice, understanding that primary patient population is TJ pre and post op.
    • Demonstrates respect and understanding of the patient’s right to treatment and right to involvement in treatment decisions with patient-centric shared decision making.
    • Practices ethical responsibility based on the cultural, ethnic, and religious beliefs of the patients served as applicable by law.
  • Treatment Quantitative
    • Maintains a patient treatment schedule consistent with the needs of the department/facility.
    • Manages caseload as it pertains to NS, CXL and reschedules.
    • Provides appropriate visits per referral, including frequency and duration based on the plan of care determined with the referring provider.
    • Demonstrates the ability to manage the episode of care using both home exercise program (HEP) and clinic visits.
    • Billing/CPT or RVU matches the time spent with patient, within department standards.
  • Records and Reports
    • Prepares and submits department/facility reports, assuring confidentiality of all records, including evaluation summaries, progress reports to referring physicians and agencies, and daily notes completed in a timely fashion supporting medical necessity.
    • Generates special reports as requested by the Director and/or Manager.
  • Staff Selection and Performance Management
    • Works with HR to interview and select staff and complete related documentation in a timely manner.
    • With HR support, ensures performance appraisals define and measure a high level of work performance.
    • Completes introductory and annual performance appraisals based on observed behaviors and work outcomes supported by appropriate documentation.
    • Sets expectations and rewards staff for achieving desired performance; initiates coaching, disciplinary action, and performance improvement planning as needed.
    • Facilitates conflict resolution with staff with support as required based on circumstances.
  • Orient and Train Staff
    • Orients new staff to the organization, department, and position.
    • Provides resources, tools, feedback, assistance and training needed to achieve productive and qualitative performance.
    • Delivers effective on-the-job training to clarify performance objectives and ensure staff have necessary knowledge and skills.
    • Builds learning into work to deepen staff understanding of processes and policies.
    • Ensures staff understand policies, procedures, and expectations.
  • Leadership
    • Supports the mission, vision, values and code of conduct of Orthopedic One.
    • Reviews department metrics and makes recommendations to modify schedules, staffing, and workflows to maintain productivity, quality, and accuracy.
    • Ensures decisions reflect thorough analysis of relevant issues and apply consistently and fairly with regulatory considerations.
