Position Summary

Standard Locknut is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our engineering team and drive continuous improvement across our production operations. This role is responsible for developing engineering talent, optimizing processes, supporting new product introductions, and ensuring that the plant meets safety, quality, cost, and delivery objectives. The ideal candidate is a hands‑on leader who can balance strategic direction with day‑to‑day problem solving on the shop floor while interfacing directly with customers to support technical needs and product requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Engineering Leadership:

  • Lead and develop the engineering team, including process engineers, application engineers, CNC programmers, and CAD resources.
  • Define and execute a strategic roadmap for advanced manufacturing technologies to support product pipeline growth.
  • Work directly with customers to understand technical requirements, product applications, and provide engineering support.
  • Drive Operational Excellence with accurate BOMs and manufacturing processes within the ERP system.
  • Own process capability, throughput, and scrap reduction initiatives.
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities and work cross‑functionally to plan and implement improvement strategies.
  • Manage budgets, timelines, and resources to achieve project objectives.
  • Lead capital projects, including justification, vendor selection, installation, and validation.
  • Coordinate cross‑functional teams to deliver equipment upgrades and automation projects.

New Product Introduction (NPI):

  • Provide Engineering leadership for New Product Introduction from concept through production launch.
  • Drive disciplined project execution, timeline adherence, cost controls, and production readiness.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Quality, and Operations to address customer needs.

Quality & Compliance:

  • Ensure process compliance with ISO 9001, safety, and other industry standards and regulations.
  • Support audits and customer requirements related to engineering controls.
  • Develop and monitor engineering metrics to identify and address areas for improvement.
  • In collaboration with Quality Department, lead or support creation of process flow diagrams, PFMEAs, control plans, and work instructions.
  • Lead or support root cause analysis (5 Why, Fishbone, DMAIC) and corrective actions.

Collaboration and Reporting:

  • Work closely with the VP of Operations and cross‑functional teams to support business goals and operational efficiency.
  • Create and present regular engineering and quality performance reports, including metrics for continuous improvement.
  • Partner with finance and operations to support accurate quoting and costing analysis for improved profitability.
  • Support management in the planning, coordination, and execution of Cap Ex projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives and budgetary guidelines.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 standards and quality management systems.
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Proven ability to drive Lean Manufacturing initiatives and process improvements.
  • Experience with ERP systems for managing Bill of Material, processes, and engineering documentation.
  • Strong background in root cause analysis (RCA), corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and 8D.
  • Strong GD&T understanding and application.
  • Experience in CNC programming and machining.

Preferred:

  • Experience in Power Transmission and Industrial Bearing applications.
  • Master’s degree or professional certifications (PMP, Lean/Six Sigma Black Belt).
  • Experience with CNC and manufacturing automation.
  • Experience managing capital projects and commissioning equipment.
  • Working knowledge of Acumatica ERP.
