The Department of Health Sciences invites applications for a part-time Adjunct Instructor to teach HESC 0275:
Occupational Science II, a pediatric-centered course within the Occupational Therapy Assistant Baccalaureate (OTA-B) Program. This course emphasizes typical and atypical development, pediatric occupational participation, service delivery models, and the OTA's role in supporting children and families across early intervention, school-based, outpatient, and medical settings.
This in-person appointment is scheduled for Spring 2026, with the possibility of additional teaching opportunities in future semesters.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesEssential:
- Deliver high-quality, evidence-informed instruction in pediatric occupational science, aligned with course and program objectives.
- Demonstrate current clinical expertise in pediatric occupational therapy practice relevant to the course content.
- Implement inclusive, equitable, and culturally responsive teaching strategies consistent with the University and OTA-B Program mission.
- Assess student learning using multiple evaluation methods designed to measure competency development.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to support student learning and professional growth.
- Maintain accurate grade records, documentation, and course materials in accordance with university policies.
- Utilize Brightspace (learning management system) for instructional delivery and communication.
- Hold regular office hours to support student academic success and advising needs.
- Collaborate with OTA-B faculty to maintain curriculum continuity and alignment across the program.
- Support students in applying course concepts to pediatric Level I Fieldwork expectations.
Required Qualifications
- Licensure / Regulation Requirements:
- Must be a licensed Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) or Occupational Therapist (OT) in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, in accordance with jurisdictional requirements for teaching OT content.
- Licensure must be maintained in good standing throughout employment.
- Degree Requirements:
