We are an 85-bed acute care community hospital in Westfield, Massachusetts. We provide access to the world-class doctors, treatments, diagnostics, and technology of the Baystate Health network. The Manager, Public Safety, is responsible for the daily management, supervision, and coordination of security and public safety operations across assigned hospital campuses and associated facilities within the health system. This position helps provide a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff through effective leadership, policy implementation, and collaboration with clinical, administrative, and law enforcement partners.
The Public Safety Manager oversees staffing, training, compliance, and operational performance in alignment with the organization’s mission, regulatory standards, and industry best practices.
Job Requirements- Develop and implement campus-specific security post orders, policies, patrol routines, and emergency response procedures.
- Monitor and evaluate staff performance, ensuring professional conduct, accountability, and adherence to department standards.
- Coordinate with other hospital departments, local law enforcement, and external agencies to ensure effective communication and support during security-related events.
- Manage compliance with Joint Commission (TJC), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements related to security and the Physical Environment.
- Participate in Environment of Care rounds, security vulnerability assessments, hospital safety and workplace violence committees.
- Develop, review, and update security policies and procedures to align with system standards and best practices.
- Manage compliance with access control, identification, visitor management, and workplace violence prevention policies.
- Direct response and management of major security incidents, emergencies, and potential threats.
- In coordination with the health system investigator, oversee investigations into incidents such as theft, workplace violence, and policy violations; ensure accurate documentation and follow-up.
