Engineering Manager; Hydraulics

Our client is seeking a seasoned Engineering Manager with a strong background in Hydraulic Design in Westland, Michigan
. The ideal candidate will bring at least 10 years of hands‑on engineering experience
, with demonstrated expertise in hydraulic systems and a proven ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and complex projects from concept to completion.

• Lead and mentor a team of engineers and designers focused on hydraulic systems and product development.
• Oversee the design, analysis, and validation of hydraulic components and systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client requirements.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including manufacturing, quality, procurement, and sales to deliver on‑time and within‑budget solutions.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives for design processes, testing protocols, and product performance.
• Manage project lifecycle from requirements gathering through design, prototyping, testing, and production release.
• Provide technical guidance and serve as a subject matter expert on hydraulic system design, including pumps, valves, actuators, and fluid dynamics.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes.
• Assist in recruiting, developing, and retaining top engineering talent.

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Fluid Power Engineering, or a related discipline (Master’s degree preferred).
• 10+ years of engineering experience
  , with at least 5 years in hydraulic system design

• 3+ years of leadership or management experience
  , preferably in a manufacturing or product development environment.
• Proficient with CAD and hydraulic simulation tools (e.g., Solid Works, AutoCAD, AMESim, MATLAB/Simulink).
• In‑depth knowledge of fluid dynamics, hydraulic circuit design, and relevant standards (e.g., ISO, SAE, NFPA).
• Strong project management skills with experience managing cross‑functional teams and budgets.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational abilities.
• Experience in automotive, industrial machinery, or aerospace industries is a plus.
