Senior Accounting Analyst

Qualifications

• Experience with Federal, State, and Local tax law in the US and Canada
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
• Previous experience in costing and FP&A preferred, specifically in manufacturing
• The successful candidate will have good supervisory and communication skills
• Advanced knowledge of PCs and spreadsheet design and usage
• The individual must be able to work well independently and have highly effective organizational skills
• Knowledge of Vitro accounting and production systems (or equivalent)

The position is responsible for hands‑on supervision and coordination of all accounting functions in the areas of production reporting, budgeting, cost estimates, inventory control, and monthly closings. In addition, this position is also responsible for providing the Business Unit and Plant Management with accurate and timely information related to the above functions, while maintaining compliance with VITRO corporate policies, government regulations, and GAAP standards.

• Incumbent is responsible for product costing and inventory valuation, as well as supervision of ongoing production reporting and shipping transactions.
• Responsible for the monthly monitoring and management of the closing process and leading the local team to complete the closing process within corporate guidelines and utmost accuracy. Also responsible for the integrity of the plant P&L and Balance Sheet through diligent variance analysis, account reconciliation review, approvals, and ongoing transaction monitoring.
• Heavily involved with plant supply chain and inventory management personnel to ensure local inventory management processes adhere to the PGW Controller’s Manual. Responsible for conducting all elements of the physical inventory process, both annual and cycle counting.
• Critical part of the annual budget process, as well as weekly and monthly forecasting, including fixed and variable absorption, updates for recognition and quantification of productivity improvements, and projected spending on a detailed account basis.
• Instrumental in creating the weekly projection and monthly results dashboard reporting. Working with functional leaders as necessary to explain and comment on major variances.
• Provides ongoing support to the operations team in quantifying the financial impact of operations decisions, including cost reduction and investment analysis.
• Completes ad hoc analyses on an ongoing basis, at the request of the Plant Manager, Plant Controller, and Business Unit Finance Group.
• Provides support for the plant Storeroom.

• Generally works in an office setting under desirable conditions with few or no disagreeable features; may be required to perform duties in the warehouse or manufacturing plant.
• Office may be located inside the manufacturing plant.
• Position may require some weekend or evening hours as business needs dictate.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. The employee must be able to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
