SchedulePart‑time (20 hrs/week) – Flexible scheduling available.
General SummaryIn this role you will provide speech‑language pathology services to patients impaired by cognitive/communicative or swallowing dysfunction, including assessment, treatment planning and implementation of treatment plans. You will complete appropriate documentation and adhere to policies, procedures, applicable licensure laws, and current standards of clinical practice.
Your Responsibilities- Conduct speech‑language pathology screenings and evaluations to determine patient cognitive/communicative and/or swallowing status using standardized tests and measures.
- Develop and implement treatment plans to reach patients’ highest potential for independence consistent with the professional and ethical standards of the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA).
- Assess effects of treatment on an ongoing basis and modify the patient’s plan to achieve maximum benefit.
- Check, instruct, assign and review the work of CFY as assigned and in accordance with ASHA standards.
- Confere with physician and other practitioners to obtain additional patient information, suggest revisions in treatment programs and integrate speech‑therapy treatment with other aspects of patient health care.
- Provide documentation to maintain quality of the medical record as it relates to accuracy, continuity of care and reimbursement guidelines.
- Participate in patient and family care conferences as requested.
- Educate and instruct patients and family/caregivers in treatment procedures for home exercise programs.
- Participate in quality‑assurance activities as directed by the Agency Administrator or site‑specific Director of Therapy.
- Promote current standards of clinical practice through participation in internal and external continuing education, in‑service programs and certifications sponsored by the agency.
- Participate in new program development to expand the clinical services of the rehabilitation agency.
- Participate in agency meetings and additional activities as directed to facilitate effective agency operations.
- Master’s Degree in Speech‑Language Pathology from an accredited program.
- ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence.
- Licensure as required by the State of Michigan.
- Initiative and flexibility in a work environment.
- Ability to exercise professional judgement and initiative when analyzing problems and recommending solutions.
- Ability to react effectively to the needs of patients and their families.
- Physical ability to exert force up to 20 pounds.
