Medical Laboratory Assistant I

Become a Medical Laboratory Assistant I with the Town of Westlock, Alberta. This part-time role focuses on collecting and processing specimens while ensuring high-quality laboratory services.

In this role, you'll engage in comprehensive laboratory functions at the Westlock Healthcare Centre. Key responsibilities include blood collection from diverse patients using both macro and micro techniques, performing ECGs and urinalysis, and managing specimens within the EPIC computer system. Your contribution directly impacts quality patient care through efficient specimen processing and reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collect, process, and dispatch biological specimens

• Perform ECGs and Holter monitoring tests

• Accession patient data into the laboratory system

• Troubleshoot specimen-related issues and provide reception duties

• Conduct complete urinalysis for patient samples

Requirements:

• Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program

• Strong skills in phlebotomy and specimen handling

• Some experience preferred in laboratory environments

• Ability to work varying shifts including evenings and weekends

• Satisfactory criminal record check required
