In this pivotal role, you will apply your industry expertise to design and implement evaluation processes for next‑generation Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) technologies before they are deployed in the field, lead hands‑on testing of emerging solutions, and deliver critical technical insights that drive improvements in performance, reliability, and scalability.

- Base pay range: $126,000 / yr – $189,000 / yr
- Actual pay is based on skills and experience.
- Ensure technical issues are resolved timely, efficiently, and cost‑effectively.
- Supervise, lead, and coordinate work with full‑time and contract employees in executing new technical strategies, equipment, or standards.
- Conduct life‑cycle and risk assessments for utility infrastructure materials and processes; improve preventive maintenance procedures to reduce downtime.
- Support audits and inspections; ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
- Provide engineering expertise and guidance for identifying, analyzing, and resolving high‑impact, complex, and cross‑functional problems.
- Maintain engineering design basis documentation and control the design basis for the engineering facility.
- Plan and coordinate high‑impact complex projects with full technical responsibility.
- Support and provide technical training to junior engineering levels.
- Safeguard physical, financial, and cybersecurity assets; manage private customer data and other highly sensitive information with integrity.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a scientific/technical/math field.
- Five or more years of engineering work in operations, production, construction, or maintenance environments.
- Valid Class C Driver’s License.
- Experience with utility enterprise and/or grid information systems.
- Experience with utility meter technologies and data management systems.
- Experience developing and executing testing in a lab environment.
- Hybrid work mode: report to an SCE facility for set days with option to work remotely; requires residency in California.
- Possible secondary duty location at Pomona, CA.
- Up to 20% travel and field work across SCE service territory.
