Certified Nursing Assistant – Full Time Night Shift
Job Summary: Assists professional nursing personnel in providing patient care in the assigned area, including activities of daily living, personal care, emotional support, and more complex clinical skills under the direction of professional nursing personnel.
Essential Functions:
- Consults with and keeps the supervisor informed of unit activities, needs, and problems related to patient care.
- Provides general nursing care such as positioning, lifting, turning, using special equipment, assisting with bed pan/urinal/commode, ambulating the patient, pre‑operative and post‑operative care, and applying binders or anti‑embolic stockings. Performs bed baths, oral/hair/back care, changes bed linens, and maintains a clean, comfortable environment.
- Takes and records vital signs and intake/output measurements accurately and documents in a timely manner.
- Prepares patient rooms and beds for admission and transfers, ensuring all necessary equipment is present.
- Assists with patient admission, transfer, and discharge procedures.
- Handles and cares for patient belongings and personal property.
- Answers patient call lights, telephone, and paging system and responds appropriately.
- Under RN direction, performs routine treatments such as enemas or heat/cold appliances.
- Releases, removes, and reapplies restraints as directed by an RN.
- Ensures the patient is in a proper position and alignment.
- Assists RN or LVN/LPN with complicated patient treatments.
- Serves and removes patient meal trays promptly.
- Assists with feeding and/or preparing food items such as opening milk containers or cutting food.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Fluent English speaking, reading, and writing.
- Good and regular attendance.
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Ability to organize tasks, develop action plans, set priorities, and function under stressful situations.
- Ability to maintain good working relationships within the department and with other departments.
- Approximately 0% travel required.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Education: Completion of a nursing assistant course.
- Licenses /
Certifications:
Current Nursing Assistant Certification, BLS Certification. - Experience: Minimum six months’ experience in an acute or long‑term care facility.
Salary Range: $21.00 – $24.47 per hour
