Job Description

Assistant Coach, Middle School Track at The Academy of Charter Schools, a PK‑12 public school of choice located in Westminster, Colorado. The Academy pairs a rigorous curriculum with opportunities for athletes to explore and develop their strengths, aiming to help all students become college‑ready citizens while fostering empowerment, diversity, equity, and inclusion.

SUMMARY
:
Responsible for creating a safe and secure school environment, fostering an optimal learning setting, and acting as a deterrent to unsafe or poor behavior by patrolling the field, monitoring student behavior, enforcing school, district, and CHSAA policies, intervening in physical encounters, monitoring visitors, reporting unsafe or unhealthy conditions, and assisting administrators and/or public officials with emergency or investigative situations.

Responsibilities
  • Enforce Academy, district, and CHSAA regulations and policies, providing high‑visibility walking and surveying of common areas, grounds, and parking lots.
  • Monitor student behavior for infractions of safety regulations, weapons, tobacco, and substance abuse rules.
  • Discuss/mediate infractions with students and provide written accounts of unacceptable behavior or incidents to the Athletic Director.
  • Communicate results of disciplinary processes to parents and meet with parents and students when required by procedures.
  • Monitor students inside and outside of the school building.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications & Experience
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Knowledge and experience with coaching (experience in the sport required, coaching experience preferred).
    • 1 year registered CHSAA or PERM Coach certification.
    • Current CPR, First Aid and AED certifications.
    • Current CHSAA certifications required.
    • Criminal background check required for hire.
    • Copy of two current letters of recommendation and current certifications are highly recommended but not required with initial application.
    Compensation & Benefits
    • Stipend: $1,800.00 paid March – May 2026.
    • PERA retirement benefits.
    • Responsibilities for verifying experience rest with employee.
    • Full‑time benefits package (plans, paid leave, etc.) as described on the Academy website.
    Reporting & Supervision

    Reports to:

    Athletic Director and Head Athletic Coach. Direct reports:
    None.

    Additional responsibilities:
    Provide purchase information to the Head Athletic Coach before any spend; final authorizer is the Athletic Director; manage cash collections and fund security; follow fundraising requirements as outlined by the Finance Department.
