Chief Estimator

This role leads the estimating team, manages the estimating process, and shapes bid pursuit strategy. You'll ensure estimate quality, coordinate workloads, evaluate project opportunities, and align estimating resources with business goals.

• Assign projects and balance workloads based on deadlines, project complexity, and team capacity
• Set clear expectations for estimate quality, completeness, and turnaround time
• Coach and develop estimators, giving feedback and addressing performance issues
• Serve as the team's first point of contact for questions, priorities, and estimating challenges

• Manage the bid schedule from initial opportunity review through final proposal submission
• Ensure estimates address scope, quantities, labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, exclusions, and project-specific risks
• Review estimates and proposals for accuracy, consistency, completeness, and compliance with company standards
• Maintain estimating standards, templates, pricing resources, and review procedures
• Work with operations and project management to feed lessons learned and actual project costs into future estimates

• Work with leadership to build a plan for identifying, evaluating, and prioritizing bids
• Evaluate opportunities based on project fit, customer relationships, team capacity, schedule, risk, and company goals
• Recommend which opportunities to pursue and allocate estimating resources in line with the agreed plan
• Revisit priorities with leadership as opportunities, workloads, and business needs change
