Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) has Engineering Technician (Civil) positions available in the Central Federal Lands Highway Division (CFLHD). Projects occur primarily on Federal Lands managed by other Federal agencies (e.g., National Park Service and U.S. Forest Service) and include multi-state areas.

As a Engineering Technician (Civil), you will:
Serve as senior project engineer technician to the Contracting Officer/Contracting Officer Representative with the responsibility for on-site administration of construction contracts in order to assure that the content of construction project contracts are technically sound and in compliance with the plans and specifications documents. Monitor documentation and measurement of work is performed.

Reviews material testing, project schedules, progress estimates, surveys, traffic controls, environmental controls, construction methods, project funding, and all issues concerning the construction of the project. Monitor specification requirements for compliance of the contract documents.

Plan, organize and facilitate project meetings, including meetings with the owning agency, local utilities, landowners, designers, local officials, suppliers, and with contractors, including formal partnering meetings. The ideal candidate for this position has experience inspecting and administering all phases of highway construction contracts. The target applicants are mid to late career hires.
