This role is based in our state‑of‑the‑art headquarters with a bright, spacious, shared workspace; scenic views of the rocky mountains;

we operate a distributed, remote‑first shopify development team responsible for our primary u.s. Site and multiple localized international storefronts. As we continue our global expansion, we’re seeking an experienced, people‑first engineering manager to elevate team performance, strengthen development processes, and architect for a scalable shopify foundation.

our organization embraces flexible collaboration across time zones, with agile, iterative development and a continuous‑delivery mindset. Collaboration and documentation are centered on github, jira, and confluence, enabling clear communication and streamlined workflows across a fully distributed environment. While remote‑first, we host occasional in‑person gatherings for planning, alignment, and team building.

this role focuses on leadership, process maturity, testing, and devops enablement—ensuring that engineering excellence supports rapid and sustainable growth.

• lead, mentor, and develop a globally distributed team of shopify full‑stack developers.
• foster a collaborative, accountable, and growth‑oriented engineering culture.
• partner with leadership to expand team capabilities by introducing testing and devops roles before scaling the developer headcount.
• conduct 1:1s, feedback sessions, and career planning for each team member.

• work with the project manager to refine and standardize the development lifecycle – backlog management, estimation, sprint cadence, and code reviews.
• ensure consistent branching, code review, and release management practices using github and atlassian tools (jira, confluence).
