This position is responsible for assisting in designing new products and implementing engineering change notices. The designer will work with Engineers and Document Control to complete and release 3-D models and drawings. An education in basic drafting standards, procedures, and software including Pro/Engineer, Intralink, AutoCAD, and Medusa is necessary for this position. Maintain a safe, clean, and healthy environment and ensure compliance with company rules and policies.
Responsibilities- Support engineering design of components and assemblies for mass transit applications.
- Create 3-D models, drawings, and release documentation for components, assemblies, modules, and other safety devices.
- Develop manufacturing drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams in accordance with applicable standards.
- Generate cost reduction ideas, sketches/drawings and feasibility investigations.
- Perform tolerance stack-up studies and check layouts.
- PDM database entry & incorporation of Engineering Changes (ECN) to drawings.
- Perform product changes and other duties as assigned.
- Coordinate work with engineers, other designers, technicians, manufacturing, suppliers and customers in support of existing products.
- Support the development of new products.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling, CAD assembly, and CAD drawing creation tools.
- Proficient in Creo 2.0 / Windchill and AutoCAD.
- Knowledgeable in GD&T (ASME Y14.5M – 1994 / 2009).
- Stack Up Analysis experience to ensure proper assembly and performance repeatability.
- Knowledgeable in CAD & design standards / procedures / CAD data translations.
- Knowledgeable in PDM (Product Data Management) and engineering document control / release processes.
- Design experience and familiarity with general manufacturing principles; sheet metal design, machining, and material selection.
- Value engineering / value analysis skills & experience are a plus.
- Technical capacity.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Self-starter with a strong sense of urgency, creativity, and confidence to achieve quality results quickly and on schedule.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail oriented and organized.
- PC skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required).
- Demonstrated history of project involvement from concept to production.
- Strong organization and problem solving skills.
- Strong time management skills.
The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in Westminster is $56,900 to $85,300 per year. Final pay will depend on factors such as experience, industry, and education. Eligibility for group healthcare plans (medical, dental, vision, basic life, and disability insurance), 401(k), vacation, personal paid absence, holidays, floating holiday, paid parental leave, FPSL-compliant sick leave where applicable, stock purchase options, and annual bonuses up to 4% of salary may apply per plan documents.
