Overview

Carroll Lutheran Village - a Lutheran Social Ministries of Maryland Community is seeking an experienced and compassionate Director of Healthcare Services to join our leadership team. As a nonprofit continuing care retirement community, we are committed to providing exceptional care, meaningful connections, and a supportive environment for both residents and team members.

The role oversees the operations of our 99‑bed Skilled Nursing Center and 25‑suite Assisted Living community
, reporting to the Executive Director, and guiding an interdisciplinary team of clinicians and professionals who share a deep commitment to person‑centered care.

What You’ll Do as Director of Healthcare Services at Carroll Lutheran Village:

  • Ensure resident rights, dignity, safety, and quality of life are upheld in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Oversee resident care delivery, ensuring nursing, medical, and psychosocial needs are met per individualized care plans and assessments.
  • Respond to resident grievances, coordinate family communication, and ensure timely notices for discharges or room changes.
  • Oversee the management of resident funds, ensuring proper accounting in accordance with regulations.
  • Maintain compliance with safety standards, including infection control, hazard communication, emergency procedures, and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Review incident and accident reports, implementing preventative measures as needed.
  • Lead facility efforts to ensure compliance with OSHA, MSDS labeling, ergonomics, and Life Safety Code requirements.
  • Oversee facility cleanliness, maintenance, and safety; authorize equipment purchases and ensure adequate supply levels to support daily operations.
  • Prepare and manage the annual operating and capital budgets; analyze monthly financial reports and adjust operational practices as needed.
  • Lead the planning, implementation, and evaluation of facility programs and services.
  • Develop and regularly update facility policies and procedures; ensure team understanding and compliance.
  • Participate in internal and external committees and quality assurance initiatives; develop corrective action plans following audits or surveys.
  • Conduct routine facility inspections and prepare for state and federal surveys; coordinate responses and plans of correction for deficiencies.
  • Support department managers in onboarding, training, and scheduling in-service education and orientation programs.
  • Ensure all team members complete required annual training, including OSHA, CDC, TB management, and blood borne pathogens.
  • Represent the facility professionally at workshops, seminars, and continuing education programs to remain current with industry standards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education | Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Additional related experience may be considered in lieu of required education.
  • At least 3 years of experience as a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator or Assistant Administrator in a skilled nursing facility.
  • Current Nursing Home Administrator licensure in the state of Maryland.
  • Current knowledge of reimbursement regulations and nursing practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations and guidelines pertaining to long-term care administration.
