Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Installation Technician
The HVAC Technician I conducts pre‑build inspections of components and performs a variety of general mechanical and/or electrical assembly of components to build HVAC units for use in the rail car industry according to drawing specifications.
Essential Functions- Maintain a safe, clean and healthy environment and ensure compliance with company rules and policies.
- Comply with quality, product safety, and HSE rules, guidelines and regulations. Be energy conscious where applicable.
- Understand and comply with applicable standards (ISO 9001, ISO 22163, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001, AAR, CMMI).
- Maintain and safeguard business records.
- Conduct pre‑build inspections of components, noting any pre‑existing handling damage prior to beginning the build process.
- Use approved manufacturing work instructions; assemble components with hand, pneumatic, and power tools according to drawing specifications, adhering to quality requirements and best practices.
- Perform assembly processes including installation of sub‑assemblies and components, installing gaskets and sealants, running wiring, fixing components and hardware installation, building wiring harnesses per work instruction/schematics, and assembling unit electrical assemblies.
- Inform supervisor of any part or equipment defects noted during the build process.
- Monitor the shelf life of consumables, following established disposal methods.
- Perform serialization of parts in SAP as pertaining to work orders.
- Provide support and assistance to other technicians and team members, as directed, and perform additional duties as assigned.
- Technical capacity: controls and instrumentation.
- Mechanical aptitude: equipment maintenance, inspection tools and tooling.
- Time management to ensure equipment readiness for assembly.
- Problem solving and decision making guided by policy, routine and procedures.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel & Word (data entry and report writing).
- Efficiency, timeliness, and meeting deadlines.
- Continuous improvement and adopting efficient ways of working.

The anticipated wage scale for Westminster, Maryland is $20.44 per hour. Compensation is subject to factors such as experience, industry years, and education. Employees are eligible for group health care plans (medical, dental, vision, basic life and disability), 401(k) plan, 80 hours of vacation leave, 40 hours of personal paid absence, 12 paid holidays, 1 floating holiday, 6 weeks of paid parental leave, and other benefits per company policy.
