Church Mission

Our mission is to make disciples of Jesus in a healthy church environment. We believe discipleship happens best through authentic relationships, biblical teaching, and serving together in community. Our goal is to help every generation, kids included, to grow in their love for God and others.

Position Summary

The Children’s Director provides vision, leadership, and hands‑on coordination for our Pre‑K through 5th grade ministry. This person will help kids discover who Jesus is, understand His Word, and build relationships that help them follow Him for life.

Working closely with the Nursery Director, the Children’s Director ensures a cohesive, family‑centered ministry from birth through elementary age. This is a part‑time position requiring strong administrative ability, relational and people skills, and the proven capacity to recruit, train, and equip volunteers to lead with excellence and care.

Key Responsibilities:

Ministry Leadership & Vision
  • Provide overall direction and spiritual leadership for the children’s ministry (Pre‑K–5th grade).
  • Plan and oversee Sunday morning operations: greeting families, check‑in station, trouble shooting anything that comes up that morning.
  • Coach volunteers on how to handle children who need extra support.
  • Create an environment where kids feel loved, safe, and excited to learn about Jesus.
  • Align children’s ministry goals with the church’s mission and conservative Biblical values.
Volunteer Recruitment & Development
  • Recruit, train, and equip volunteers to serve effectively in all areas of children’s ministry.
  • Build a healthy volunteer culture marked by teamwork, encouragement, and accountability.
  • Provide regular training, communication, and appreciation for the volunteer team.
  • Work with the office administrator to make sure background checks and safety procedures are followed for all volunteers.
Administrative & Operational Leadership
  • Exercise strong administrative gifts to manage weekly ministry operations smoothly.
  • Maintain organized systems for communication, scheduling, and planning.
  • Maintain and grow volunteer team for each area.
    • Maintain and grow a sub list for each 10‑week teaching period
    • Have a team huddle each time a new 10‑week teaching period ends
  • Manage ministry budget, classroom supplies, and curriculum resources.
  • Oversee secure check‑in/check‑out procedures and ensure safety at all times.
  • Communicate clearly with parents, volunteers, and staff. This should include:
    • A quarterly family email / newsletter sent out to all Families in the Church
    • Weekly email to volunteers in preparation for Sunday
Family & Church Partnership
  • Partner with parents to help them disciple their children at home.
    • Regular one‑on‑one meetings with parent
    • Regularly supplying resources to parents to encourage them in family discipleship
  • Work with the Nursery Director to ensure a smooth transition from nursery to children’s ministry
  • Collaborate with other ministries to strengthen family engagement and church unity.
Events & Special Programs
  • Support church‑wide outreach and community events that involve children and families.
Qualifications
  • A personal, growing relationship with Jesus Christ and a lifestyle that reflects biblical integrity.
  • Agreement with the church’s statement of faith and conservative theological convictions.
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, train, and lead volunteers.
  • Strong administrative, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • A heart for relational ministry and building healthy teams
  • Experience in children’s ministry, education, or a related field (preferred).
