Registered Nurse - PACU (Part-Time)
Essential Functions
:
Assists in provision of nursing care to patients in a same day surgery setting. Assumes total responsibility for patient care in accordance with physician’s orders and center’s policies. Monitors and controls use of and charging for supplies utilized in the center.

Education / Experience
:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Current Registered Nurse License.
- 2 years PACU ASC experience preferred.
- Current American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
Knowledge,
Skills and Abilities
:
- Assess, develop and implement total nursing care for post‑operative patients.
- Record and report to appropriate persons all symptoms, reactions, abnormalities, and changes in the physical and mental conditions of post‑operative patients.
- Administer medications and treatments ordered by physicians.
- Care and discharge post‑operative patients according to facility policies.
- Assess pain and/or nausea medication needs accurately.
- Ensure an order precedes the administration of medication.
- Know intended actions and side effects of medications.
- Document medications.
- Maintain patient and employee privacy and confidential information.
- Provide psychological support to patients and/or families.
- Maintain rapport with physicians and other departments providing care for the patients.
- Admit patients to sit‑up area.
- Perform routine charging of medications and supplies.
- Accurately check charge sheets for supplies used on patients.
- Function independently in emergency situations.
- Make logical quick decisions based on sound judgment.
- Maintain competence through continuing education.
- Meet requirements for CEU re‑licensure.
- Assist in orientation of new employees with factual information regarding current departmental policies.
- Act as a resource for new employees.
- Maintain supplies and cleanliness in the work environment.

Required Experience
: 2 years in ASC setting; PACU orthopedic experience preferred.
