Quantity Surveyor

Galliford Try is seeking a Quantity Surveyor for its Banwell Bypass project in Somerset. Working with the Commercial Manager, the post supports project reporting and commercial administration. The employer prefers someone based locally but states that it is open to subsidising relocation.

Responsibilities include preparing subcontract documents, negotiating prices and terms, and administering the resulting work packages. The surveyor will issue contractual notices to the client and subcontractors and manage changes, including preparing compensation-event quotations. Monthly reporting includes cost-value reconciliations.

The role also maintains the cost plan, tracks expenditure and forecasts future spending, with subcontract liabilities recorded in detail. Oracle cost analysis is part of this work. The advert asks for a relevant degree, experience in a commercial environment, or both.

Applicants should understand construction processes and standard contract forms and be able to use Excel, Word and commercial management systems. Communication and stakeholder-management skills are also requested. Professional membership, including candidates working towards it, is desirable.

The employer invites discussion of reduced hours or flexible working during recruitment.
