Job Title: Head of Maths

Actual Annual Salary: £32,916 - £51,048 (M1 – UPS3) + TLR 1B - £12,521

Contract Type: Permanent

Hours: Full-time, 32.5 hours per week

Start: 20 April 2026

Your opportunity to lead Maths and inspire the next generation of students.

As the Curriculum leader of Maths, you will lead our department across Key Stages 3 and 4, overseeing the curriculum, teaching, and assessment strategies to ensure high standards of student achievement. You will inspire and support a team of dedicated teachers and collaborate with senior leadership during a period of transition with a new Principal and Vice Principal.

Responsibilities

Lead the Maths department across Key Stages 3 and 4, develop curriculum and assessment strategies, support teachers, analyse attainment data and implement improvement plans, represent the Academy at professional events and contribute to school-wide initiatives.

Qualifications

Experience working with children and young people, a basic knowledge and understanding of the curriculum, excellent oral and written communication skills, good organisational and efficient administration skills, ability to build effective working relationships with teachers and other academy staff, skills to facilitate class discussions sensitively.

  • Experience of working with children and young people.
  • Experience of assimilating information to facilitate the delivery of lesson plans effectively.
  • A basic knowledge and understanding of the curriculum.
  • Excellent standard of oral and written communication skills and ability to understand and convey information effectively.
  • Good organisational and efficient administration skills.
  • The ability to build effective working relationships with teachers and other academy staff.
  • The skills to participate in class discussions in an informed and sensitive manner.
