English Graduate – Interventions Teaching Assistant

‘Good’ Primary School – Weston-Super-Mare

Start: ASAP
Full-Time | Until End of Academic Year (potential to continue)
£90–£110 per day (depending on experience)

We’re working with an Ofsted rated ‘Good’ primary school in Weston-Super-Mare who are looking to appoint an English graduate to join them as an Interventions Teaching Assistant.

This role would suit someone considering a future career in Primary Teaching and is looking to gain hands-on experience working with children in a school setting.

You’ll be supporting pupils across the school, including children with additional needs, with English interventions, this includes developing pupils’ core literacy skills such as phonics, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and comprehension;
Some 1:1 support may be required.

The school has a strong and supportive team and provides guidance and structure, making it a great setting for a graduate looking to build practical experience.

The role will involve:

* Supporting pupils in class to access learning

* Developing pupils’ core literacy skills such as phonics, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and comprehension

* Delivering small group interventions

* Providing 1:1 support where required

* Assisting with behaviour regulation and emotional support

* Working closely with teachers and the SENCo

The school is looking for someone who:

* Holds a bachelor’s degree in English (or related subject)

* Is confident, calm and patient

* Has an interest in child development and additional needs

* Can build positive relationships with pupils and staff

* Is reliable and committed

Any experience working with children (schools, tutoring, coaching, care or youth work) would be advantageous, though not essential.
