About the Role

We are currently seeking dedicated and compassionate Youth Mentors to support children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Special Educational Needs (SEN) across Weston-super-Mare. Working within schools and alternative provision settings, you will help students build confidence, develop positive relationships, and re-engage with their education.
This role is about more than supporting learning. It is about becoming a trusted mentor, offering stability, guidance, and encouragement to young people who need someone in their corner.

The RoleAs a Youth Mentor, you will:
- Provide one-to-one and small group mentoring support
- Build positive, trusting relationships with students
- Support young people with SEMH, SEN, and behavioural needs
- Help students develop confidence, resilience, and life skills
- Encourage attendance, engagement, and participation in learning
- Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
- Collaborate with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and families
- Act as a consistent and positive role model
We are looking for individuals who are:
- Patient, empathetic, and resilient
- Strong communicators with excellent interpersonal skills
- Confident working with children who may present additional challenges
- Adaptable and proactive in their approach
- Committed to safeguarding and promoting children s welfare
Previous experience working with young people is beneficial but not essential.
