ASC Teaching Assistant
Location: Weston-Super-Mare & surrounding areas
Pay: £95–£110 per day PAYE
Job Type: Flexible Supply, Temporary, Long-Term & Temp-to-Perm Opportunities

Connex Education Partnership is looking for ASC Teaching Assistants to support children and young people in specialist SEND schools and provisions across Weston-Super-Mare and other local areas.
You’ll provide individualised support that helps pupils access learning, build confidence, develop communication skills and become more independent.
The PupilsYou could be supporting pupils who:
- Have Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
- Find communication and social interaction challenging
- Experience sensory processing differences or sensory overload
- Struggle with changes to routine, transitions or unfamiliar situations
- Need support with emotional regulation and anxiety
- Have additional learning or complex SEND needs
- Benefit from structure, visual support and predictable routines
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
- Support communication, interaction and engagement
- Use structured and personalised approaches to learning
- Help pupils manage transitions and changes throughout the day
- Recognise individual needs, triggers and communication styles
- Encourage independence and confidence
- Work closely with teachers and specialist staff to follow individual support plans
Experience working with children or young people with autism is desirable, whether in education, support work or another relevant settings.
You’ll need to be:
- Patient, observant and adaptable
- Confident building meaningful relationships
- Able to respond consistently to individual needs
- Comfortable working in a specialist SEND environment
- Committed to helping pupils make progress both academically and personally
Knowledge of PECS, Makaton, sensory support or positive behaviour approaches would be advantageous.
