About the Role
Our client, a well-established civil engineering contractor with over five decades of operational excellence, is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team. The business is renowned for delivering large-scale earthworks, quarrying, highways, infrastructure and plant-supported construction projects throughout the South West.
As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in managing the commercial performance of major projects from tender through to final account. This is an excellent opportunity to join a respected, long-standing contractor with strong order books, modern plant resources, and a reputation for stability and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
Manage commercial aspects of civil engineering and earthworks projects from procurement to final account
Prepare, negotiate and agree subcontract and client valuations
Undertake cost control, forecasting and financial reporting
Assess, value and negotiate variations and compensation events
Support project teams with commercial advice and risk management
Manage subcontract procurement, payments and contract administration
Ensure compliance with contractual and company procedures
Contribute to continuous improvement of commercial processes
Requirements
Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior QS within civil engineering
Strong expertise in NEC and/or JCT forms of contract
Background in earthworks, infrastructure, highways, or heavy civil engineering advantageous
Excellent numeracy, analytical and negotiation skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple live projects
Degree in Quantity Surveying or related discipline preferred
Full UK driving licence
