About The Role
As a Support Worker – Learning Disabilities
, you will play a key role in helping our customers to live safely, independently and confidently within their communities. Every day will bring something different as you work alongside people with diverse needs, helping them recognise their strengths, build their confidence and achieve their goals.
You’ll build open, trusting relationships with customers, colleagues and partner agencies, ensuring support is delivered in a way that is person‑centred, responsive and respectful. You’ll need to think on your feet, work flexibly and embrace the fact that no two days – or customers – are the same.
Key Responsibilities- Provide high‑quality, person‑centred support to people with learning disabilities and complex needs.
- Build effective, trusting relationships with customers, colleagues and external partners.
- Work with individuals to identify their needs and develop personalised support plans with clear, achievable goals.
- Complete and review risk assessments, ensuring safety, professionalism and compliance with policies.
- Promote independence, confidence and community involvement to reduce social isolation.
- Maintain accurate records and collect information to support service outcomes.
- Work safely and appropriately when lone working.
- Uphold safeguarding, confidentiality, equality and professional boundaries at all times.

This is a full‑time role working 37 hours per week, mobile role based in the field – you should be based within a 30‑minute commute of the area you will be supporting. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable groups.
Appointment to this role is subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS check.

About The CandidateTo be successful in your application for the role of Support Worker – Learning Disabilities
, you will have the essential skills and experience for a Level 1 role (please see the candidate information pack) and the following role‑specific skills and experience:
- Experience supporting people with a range of backgrounds and support needs.
- Ability to make sound, practical decisions and assess risks in different situations.
- Accountability for your own actions and ability to see the bigger picture.
- Experience maintaining records and creating action plans.
- Good level of literacy and numeracy.
- Ability to build effective relationships and work well with internal and external partners.
- Ability to lone work safely and also work effectively within a team.
- Willingness to work flexibly, including outside normal office hours, to meet customer needs.
- Understanding of diversity in the context of supporting vulnerable people.
- Ability to promote independence in individual and group settings.
- Confidence in assessing situations, dealing with challenges and offering solutions.
- Positive approach to change.
- Safeguarding certifications.
- Knowledge of housing support and the issues affecting people day‑to‑day.
- Understanding of training, employment or education opportunities and social activities.
- Experience working with vulnerable individuals individually or in group settings.
- Knowledge and understanding of housing‑related support.
- Working knowledge of British Sign Language.
- NVQ3 or equivalent in a relevant field.
- Good literacy and numeracy (essential).
- Safeguarding certifications (essential).
- NVQ3 or equivalent in a relevant field (desirable).
