Production Technician

A Squared Technologies

If you enjoy varied, hands-on technical work — moving between SMT machine operation, hand soldering, loom assembly, and full box builds — this could be the role for you. A Squared is a well-established, family-run business with a reputation for reliability and long-standing customer relationships, and as demand grows we're expanding our production team.

This role suits someone with practical knowledge of surface mount technology (SMT) machines, such as Pick and Place systems, who's comfortable working with small, fine-pitch components. Whether you're already experienced across the full range of tasks below, or strong in one area and keen to develop the rest, we'd like to hear from you — we're happy to support the right person in building out their skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up, operate, and maintain SMT machines (Pick and Place) for efficient, accurate PCB assembly, including small and fine-pitch components
  • Perform hand soldering and assembly of through-hole and surface mount components (PCBA)
  • Build wiring looms and harnesses to specification
  • Carry out full box builds, from sub-assembly through to finished unit
  • Work to IPC standards and internal procedures to ensure consistently reliable results
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to boost efficiency and output
  • Maintain accurate production records and follow established workflows
  • Collaborate closely within a small, focused team where you'll know everyone by name
Skills & Experience We're Looking For
  • Practical experience with SMT/Pick and Place machines, including handling of small components
  • Good soldering skills (both through-hole and surface mount)
  • Experience with loom/harness assembly and box build processes
  • Ability to use basic hand tools, test equipment, and microscopes for fine-pitch work
  • Computer literacy for machine programming, data entry, and documentation
  • High attention to detail and pride in your work
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing/production environment
  • A flexible, proactive approach, comfortable moving between different assembly tasks, and willing to learn new techniques
What We Offer
  • Hands-on training and the chance to develop across multiple disciplines
  • A supportive, close-knit team environment
  • Stability of a well-established, family-run business with long-term customers

If you're passionate about electronics and take pride in delivering first-class results across a variety of build types, we'd love to hear from you.
