We are currently recruiting a permanent, full-time Band 5 Registered Nurse to join our team on Knightstone Ward.
Knightstone Ward is a busy 12‑bed elective surgical ward specialising in arthroplasty care, including patients undergoing hip and knee replacement surgery.
This is a challenging yet highly rewarding role, requiring excellent communication and problem‑solving skills, alongside the ability to remain flexible, resilient and responsive in a fast‑paced clinical environment.
Responsibilities- Work with the ward sister/charge nurse and multidisciplinary team members in monitoring and maintaining policies, standards of nursing care and staff development, as part of the ward team.
- Be flexible in approach to the clinical area and provide cover for any area specified.
- Clinical management of a group of patients within a defined Ward/Unit; responsible to the Nurse Manager for the timely patient interventions caring for orthopaedic and surgical elective inpatients.
- In partnership with other professionals and disciplines, develop measurable patient care plans/goals, including assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation from admission to timely transfer or discharge.
- Understand and support enhanced recovery programme including Nurse Led discharge.
- Ensure nursing documentation is maintained, accurate and timely in line with the Trust standard.
- Demonstrate awareness and compliance with Trust policies, procedures, guidelines and standards, and promote these to others.
- Promote and maintain a safe environment for patients.
- Administer medicines in accordance with Trust policy.
- Promote a clean environment and prevention of hospital acquired infection.
- Respond positively and act promptly to resolve problems/issues for patients/carers, utilising complaints procedures and PALs where appropriate.
