Description
The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and improving products and manufacturing processes. This role works closely with Production, Fabrication, Quality, and Management teams to develop solutions that improve product performance, manufacturability, quality, and efficiency.
Job Summary:Product Design & Development
- Design, model, and test new products and product improvements.
- Create and revise engineering drawings, CAD models, and documentation.
- Develop prototypes and working models for evaluation and customer demonstrations.
- Research materials, components, and manufacturing methods.
- Prepare design proposals and recommend engineering solutions.
- Create Bills of Material (BOMs), routings, work orders, and cost estimates.
- Collaborate with Production Manager and Fabricators to improve manufacturability and quality.
- Support production troubleshooting and process improvements.
- Participate in cross-functional teams implementing manufacturing changes.
- Travel to production facilities to evaluate processes and recommend improvements.
- Develop and update facility layouts as needed.
- Implement Lean manufacturing practices.
- Support ISO 9000-related engineering and design processes.
- Monitor product quality standards and assist with corrective actions.
- Recommend improvements to engineering, production, and safety processes.
- Provide technical assistance with engineering-related software and systems.
- Support process improvements involving internal software tools and documentation.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred.
- Experience with 3D CAD software (identify your software: Solid Works, Inventor, Creo, AutoCAD, etc.).
- Understanding of manufacturing processes including machining, fabrication, welding, assembly, or sheet metal (as applicable).
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and technical specifications.
- Experience with BOMs, engineering changes, and production documentation.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Lean manufacturing experience.
- ISO 9001/9000 experience.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems.
This position requires regular interaction with production areas and may require walking through manufacturing facilities, observing equipment operation, and reviewing fabricated products. Appropriate safety equipment must be worn when required.
