Accounts Payable Specialist
Position Summary
Our client, an education-focused organization, is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist to support daily financial operations. This role is responsible for full‑cycle accounts payable processing, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely payments in accordance with organizational policies, funding requirements, and internal controls. Experience with Blackbaud is strongly preferred.
Process full‑cycle accounts payable, including invoice review, coding, approvals, and payment processing
Enter and maintain vendor invoices, credit memos, and payments accurately within Blackbaud
Ensure expenses are properly coded to the general ledger, grants, and programs as applicable
Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
Prepare and process weekly and/or biweekly payment runs (checks, ACH, wires)
Maintain accurate AP records and supporting documentation in compliance with audit requirements
Assist with month‑end and year‑end close, including AP accruals and reconciliations
Respond to vendor and internal inquiries professionally and efficiently
Support audits by providing AP documentation and responding to requests
Collaborate closely with Finance and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth workflows and data accuracy
Proven experience in accounts payable within an education, nonprofit, or similar mission‑driven environment
Hands‑on experience using Blackbaud (required or strongly preferred)
Strong understanding of AP processes, internal controls, and accounting best practices
High attention to detail with strong organizational and time‑management skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
Strong communication skills and a collaborative working style
