Tutoring
Freudigman & Billings is looking to add a full-time Junior Instructor to our Admissions Test Prep team. In particular, we are seeking someone with a background and interest in helping students prepare for the ACT and SAT, but we welcome experience with the ISEE, SSAT, MCAT, GMAT, GRE, and/or LSAT as well.
This is not a remote position. All work is performed at our center in Westport, CT.
Who We AreOur fundamental belief at Freudigman & Billings is that children learn best in the context of supportive relationships. We work closely with our students, their families, and each other to create and execute individualized learning plans. This means that you’ll develop your instructional, relationship-building, and analytical skills in a way that will allow you to consider the whole child - their learning profile, personality, and environmental circumstances.
WhatWe Do
Our instructors teach information processing, self-monitoring, critical thinking, and problem solving strategies to help students understand fundamental principles about how the world of ideas is organized and how they can best interact with that information. This process does not involve the rote memorization of vocabulary or inundation of practice questions that many associate with “test prep.” Instead, we focus on teaching students effective strategies for gathering, sequencing, tracking, and classifying information from text and visual sources.
These processes contribute to a student’s ability to reason, solve problems, make inferences, and draw conclusions. We help students develop the skills, self-awareness, and confidence to become more capable, independent learners, meaning our work extends well beyond preparing students for a single examination.
