What You’ll Be Doing
As a valuable part of our Electrical Team
, a Project Engineer 2 will play a vital role in delivering reliable, intelligent control systems for essential water and wastewater infrastructure with responsibilities such as:
- Develop and implement programmable logic controller (PLC) and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) programs for water and wastewater treatment facilities
- System Integration and Startup:
Support system integration efforts and facility startups, including hands-on field testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of I&C systems - Design and specify instrumentation, control panels, and communication networks. Coordinate with electrical and process engineering teams to ensure system compatibility and integration
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams—including electrical, process, and mechanical engineers—through all stages of project development and implementation
- Provide periodic construction observation, ensuring installation of I&C systems aligns with design documents and quality standards. Assist contractors during installation, testing, and commissioning phases
- Serve as a technical point of contact for clients and contractors throughout construction and commissioning. Respond to RFIs and provide recommendations for system adjustments or modifications
- Prepare technical reports, system architecture diagrams, equipment specifications, and test documentation. Maintain accurate records of system integration and performance testing
- Ensure all work adheres to relevant electrical codes, industry standards, and cybersecurity best practices in automation systems
What You’ll Need
- Significant experience (ideally 7+ years) in SCADA/PLC programming and I&C system design, preferably in water and wastewater treatment environments
- Hands-on experience with PLCs (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Schneider, Siemens) and SCADA platforms (e.g., Ignition, Wonderware, GE iFIX)
- Proficiency in developing and implementing instrumentation control logic, communication protocols, and network topologies
- Familiarity with instrumentation hardware selection (flow, pressure, level sensors, etc.) and control panel layout and wiring
- Strong technical coordination and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across disciplines and communicate effectively with contractors and clients
- Ability to travel periodically to job sites for system testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning support
Preferred Requirements
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain PE licensure
- Experience in designing and commissioning instrumentation and SCADA systems for municipal water and wastewater projects
- Working knowledge of NIST, ISA, or other industry cybersecurity standards applicable to critical infrastructure systems
- Experience preparing panel wiring diagrams, loop diagrams, and control schematics
- Familiarity with process instrumentation calibration and field troubleshooting
- SCADA scripting experience (e.g., Python…
