Get to Know Your Team:
- Hackensack Meridian Pascack Valley Medical Center is a 128‑bed, full‑service, acute‑care community hospital with a new emergency department, a state‑of‑the‑art maternity center, a women’s imaging center, and an ICU.
- Provides a superior level of secretarial duties and reception services to doctors, patients, and staff.
- Enters, maintains, and reports all medical history using the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
- Updates all patient files, ensuring documents are accurate, confidential, and compliant.
- Greets, checks in and out patients, and informs other medical staff of patient arrivals.
- Assists in maintaining inventory of necessary supplies and instruments.
- Schedules appointments, follows up on no‑call/no‑show, and discharges patients.
- Answers inbound practice calls, greets vendors, and sets vendor appointments.
- Conveys messages in writing, electronically, and verbally.
- Maintains physicians’ calendars, prepares doctors’ notes (return to work, school, or leave notices), and other correspondence as directed.
- Scans, files, faxes documents, and prepares and sorts mail.
Ensures waiting and reception areas remain orderly and clean, reporting any damage. - Acts as a liaison with patients, referrals, general practitioners, health‑care professionals, and families in a compassionate manner.
- High School diploma or GED.
- Higher education may substitute for experience.
- 1+ years’ experience in a hospital or physician practice setting.
- Basic to intermediate EMR knowledge.
- Basic to intermediate Microsoft Office knowledge.
- Associate’s degree in a related field (preferred).
Rate of pay is determined based on experience and education, and may include other pay components such as differentials and call pay based on role.
