Client Manager Are you an experienced practice professional ready to take full ownership of a client portfolio?

Do you enjoy building long-term client relationships while leading a team and delivering high-quality advisory-led services?

This is an excellent opportunity for a Client Manager to join a growing accountancy practice in Wetherby. You’ll manage a varied portfolio of owner‑managed businesses and SMEs, act as a trusted adviser to clients and play a key role in the development of the wider team.

The Role

As Client Manager, you’ll take responsibility for the delivery, quality and growth of your own client portfolio.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing a portfolio of limited companies, partnerships and sole traders
  • Acting as the main point of contact for clients, providing proactive and commercially focused advice
  • Reviewing statutory accounts, management accounts and tax returns
  • Overseeing corporation tax and personal tax compliance
  • Managing deadlines, workflow and client expectations across your portfolio
  • Leading and mentoring junior and senior team members
  • Reviewing work and providing technical guidance and feedback
  • Supporting business development through client referrals and cross‑selling services
  • Assisting with onboarding new clients and improving internal processes
  • Working closely with senior leadership on advisory projects where appropriate

This role offers genuine autonomy, client ownership and progression potential.

About You

You’ll be a confident, client‑focused professional with strong practice experience.

  • Be ACA or ACCA qualified (or qualified by experience)
  • Have experience managing a client portfolio within a UK accountancy practice
  • Possess strong technical knowledge across accounts and tax
  • Be confident reviewing work and supporting team development
  • Have excellent communication and relationship‑building skills
  • Be commercially aware and proactive in identifying opportunities to add value
  • Be organised, reliable and comfortable managing multiple deadlines
  • Demonstrate a genuine desire to progress and succeed at Manager level and beyond
