Senior Telecommunications EngineerThe Senior Telecommunications Engineer works on various projects as assigned by a Department Manager or Lead Engineer. This position plays a role in the entire design process, from preliminary assessments to delivering coverage for project leads, and may also lead projects depending on bandwidth.
Responsibilities- Preliminary assessments
- Concept creation
- Internal and external problem resolution
- Drawing and specification production
- Customer and vendor accessibility
- Being the EoR for designs
- Providing coverage for project leads
- Managing concurrent projects and ensuring they are completed on time
- Leading BIM designers in preparation of engineering drawings
- DIV 27 specification creation or modification
- Conducting site visits and reviewing technical documents
- Maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Sign and seal telecommunications design packages
- Mentoring other team members
- Identifying and implementing process improvements with the lead engineer and/or department manager
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Communication Engineering from an ABET‑accredited college
- Minimum 8 years of experience actively designing or leading designs for telecommunications structured cabling systems
- Thorough knowledge of ANSI/TIA and BICSI standards
- Knowledge of NFPA 70 and its application to telecommunications structured cabling systems
- Proficiency with Bluebeam
- Self‑motivation and strong project management skills
- Familiarity with responding to RFPs
- Experience with quality assurance and checking of telecommunications systems designed by others
- Experience in startup and commissioning of telecommunications systems
- Experience creating and maintaining project budgets and schedules
- Experience identifying and mitigating company risk
- PE license, and ability to obtain multiple PE licenses
- 4 years telecommunications design experience in data centers
- Experience with other low‑voltage systems (security, audio/visual, wireless)
- Working knowledge of Revit and Navisworks design software platforms
- Knowledge of telecom infrastructure for controls and security systems
- Knowledge of CSI or AIA specification writing procedures
- Credential as an RCDD

Ideally, selected candidates will be near a Jacobs U.S. based office, but we intend to hire the “best” candidates. We support a hybrid working policy that allows employees to split their work week between Jacobs offices/projects and remote locations.
