Senior Telecommunications Engineer

The Senior Telecommunications Engineer works on various projects as assigned by a Department Manager or Lead Engineer. This position plays a role in the entire design process, from preliminary assessments to delivering coverage for project leads, and may also lead projects depending on bandwidth.

Responsibilities
  • Preliminary assessments
  • Concept creation
  • Internal and external problem resolution
  • Drawing and specification production
  • Customer and vendor accessibility
  • Being the EoR for designs
  • Providing coverage for project leads
  • Managing concurrent projects and ensuring they are completed on time
  • Leading BIM designers in preparation of engineering drawings
  • DIV 27 specification creation or modification
  • Conducting site visits and reviewing technical documents
  • Maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Sign and seal telecommunications design packages
  • Mentoring other team members
  • Identifying and implementing process improvements with the lead engineer and/or department manager
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Communication Engineering from an ABET‑accredited college
  • Minimum 8 years of experience actively designing or leading designs for telecommunications structured cabling systems
  • Thorough knowledge of ANSI/TIA and BICSI standards
  • Knowledge of NFPA 70 and its application to telecommunications structured cabling systems
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam
  • Self‑motivation and strong project management skills
  • Familiarity with responding to RFPs
  • Experience with quality assurance and checking of telecommunications systems designed by others
  • Experience in startup and commissioning of telecommunications systems
  • Experience creating and maintaining project budgets and schedules
  • Experience identifying and mitigating company risk
  • PE license, and ability to obtain multiple PE licenses
Preferred Experience
  • 4 years telecommunications design experience in data centers
  • Experience with other low‑voltage systems (security, audio/visual, wireless)
  • Working knowledge of Revit and Navisworks design software platforms
  • Knowledge of telecom infrastructure for controls and security systems
  • Knowledge of CSI or AIA specification writing procedures
  • Credential as an RCDD
